MORAL WELFARE
The "Carville" Home at 38 The Drive, E.17, is administered
by the Walthamstow Deanery Branch of the Chelmsford Diocesan
Moral Welfare Association. The Home provides accommodation
for a total of 16 mothers and their babies and has a high record of
care and service.

Miss E. Williams, the Superintendent, submits the following statistics relating to the work carried out in 1954:—

MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE CENTRES
Capital Building Programme.
During the financial year 1954/55, Silverdale Welfare Centre
was completely renovated at an estimated cost of £1,500.
Markhouse Road Welfare Centre was redecorated at an estimated
cost of £304 and a new composition floor was laid at an
estimated cost of £271.
The following list gives details of Clinics held at the various
Centres situated in the Borough:—
(a) Ante and Post Natal Clinics
Monday (twice monthly) 2 p.m. Silverdale Road, Highams Park.
Monday „ „ 2 p.m. West Avenue, E.17.
Monday 2 p.m. Markhouse Road, E.17.
Wednesday 9 a.m. Markhouse Road, E.17.
(In addition, clinics are held at the District Nurses' Homes,
and a large proportion of the ante-natal work of the Borough is
done at Thorpe Coombe Maternity Hospital.)
(b) Ante-Natal Relaxation Exercises Classes.
Tuesday 2 p.m. Markhouse Road, E.17.
Wednesday 2 p.m. West Avenue, E.17.
