The following table shows particulars of new cases of tuberculosis and of all deaths from the disease in the Borough during 1954:—

As each new case of pulmonary tuberculosis has been notified,
enquiry has been made as to the infectivity of the patient. Of 60
cases investigated, 25 were sputum positive on notification or soon
after i.e. 42%.
