Ice Cream (Heat Treatment, Etc.)—Regulations, 1947-51.
The trade has continued to co-operate and a good standard
has been maintained.
Food Standards (Ice Cream) Order, 1951.
Three samples were taken and submitted to the Public Analysts
who reported the following satisfactory results:—
Fat content
8.76%
7.7 %
6.5 %
Medical Examination—Typhoid, Etc., Carriers.
The scheme of voluntary medical examination and blood
testing of employees in the ice cream trade has now reached its
eighth year.
Thirty-four persons had blood specimens taken.
No "Carriers" were found during the period under review.
Bacteriological Examination of Ice Cream.
Ninety-eight samples were submitted for examination and for
grading in accordance with the provisional test of the Ministry
of Health, with the following results
Grade I = 76
„ II = 19
„ III = 2
„ IV = 1
When an unsatisfactory sample is obtained the supplies are
re-sampled as soon as possible.
In the case of ice cream manufactured other than within the
district, copy reports are sent to the appropriate local authority.
Lollies (Various).
Twenty-eight samples were examined for bacterial purity, four
of which were unsatisfactory.
