Sanitary Inspection of the Area

Of the 1,551 intimation notices served, 456 were in respect of
business premises and the remainder (1,095) related to defects in
private houses. Of the latter figure, 908 were complied with without
resort to statutory procedure.
It was found necessary to institute legal proceedings against
owners for non-compliance with eleven Abatement Notices served
under Section 93 of the Public Health Act, 1936. Orders were made
by the Justices in two cases—in one instance costs of £2 2s. Od.
being awarded. In three cases the summonses were withdrawn, the
work having been undertaken before the date of Hearing, and six
cases were adjourned sine die.
