In addition to the above, a large stock of varied foodstuffs was
certified damaged by fire and/or water at a grocer's shop.
During the summer months, the Council drew the attention
of the Ministry of Food to the large quantity of meat which had
been condemned during July and August. In reply, it was stated
that the Ministry was concerned about the condemnations of meat
and that stringent precautions were taken to ensure that deterioration
was kept to a minimum. It was reported that the amount
condemned by the Council during these months represented
approximately 0.1% of the total meat issued during the period.
Following from the attendance of the Vice-Chairman of the
Committee and the Chief Sanitary Inspector at the 60th Annual
Conference of the Sanitary Inspectors' Association, it was agreed
that the Ministry of Food be informed that the Council strongly
