Maternity Outfits.—391 outfits were issued.
Training of Pupil Midwives.—Thorpe Coomhe Maternity
Hospital is a training school for both Parts I and II, the latter in
association with home confinements on the "district." A total of
37 pupils successfully underwent Part II training during 1953.
HEALTH VISITING
(Section 24)
Health Visiting Staff.—The equivalent of whole-time Health
Visitors at the end of the year was 9.6, and one Superintendent.
This was equal to one whole-time district Health Visitor to 165
notified births, and one whole-time district Health Vistor per 160
registered births during 1953.
Most of the Health Visitors also carry out duties as School Nurses.
