(c) Dental.—Mr. L. W. Elmer, L.D.S., Senior Dental Officer,
reports as follows:—
"As far as possible every expectant and nursing mother
and pre-school child referred to us from the welfare centres
has been examined.
"The infants have increased in numbers and it is pleasing
to find that a larger proportion have 'stayed the course' and
have been made dentally fit.
"Almost double the number of mothers have been
referred and examined but only 120 have been made really
dentally fit. This is a slightly better proportion than last
year, but nothing has occurred to alter my opinion that a
concentration upon the dental education and treatment of the
adolescent female would be far more fruitful of results than
the present concentration upon the expectant and nursing
mother."
The following gives details of the work done during the year
by the Dental Staff:—
