By the old test, of a total of 126, 109 were in the categories
"Very Satisfactory" or "Satisfactory" and 13 "Passable." In
the latter group the bacteriologists invariably amplified their classification
with a special note.
By the new (provisional) test, 92 were in Grade I, 28 Grade II,
4 Grade III and 2 Grade IV.
When an unsatisfactory sample is obtained the supplies are
re-sampled as soon as possible.
In the case of ice cream manufactured other than within the
district, copy reports are sent to the appropriate local authority.
Ice Lollies.
Four samples were submitted to the Public Analysts, who
reported all free from prohibited dyes and metallic poisoning.
Nine samples were examined for bacterial purity, all of which
were of a satisfactory standard.
(c) Meat and Other Foods.
The Live Stock (Restriction of Slaughtering) Order, 1940,
continued in force and no slaughtering was carried out.
