National Assistance (Amendment) Act, 1951.
The Medical Officer of Health is authorised by the Council to
make application for the necessary orders in cases to which the Act
applies.

There were no refusals or appeals.
Four inspections of each home were made by the medical
staff. No difficulties in regard to supervision arose.
Routine enquiries are made with regard to unregistered homes.
8. Essex County Council Act, 1933 (Establishments for massage
and special treatment).
One new licence was granted under the Act.
C.— SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA
Water.—The authority responsible is the Metropolitan Water
Board. Routine tests are carried out by the Board, and the usual
practice was continued of notifying the Board of all actual or
suspected cases of enteric fever. The Board then arranged special
tests at the addresses concerned. All were negative in 1952. All
dwelling houses in the area are supplied direct with running water.
The information included in the report for 1951 in respect of
Ministry of Health Circular 42/51, also applied to 1952.
