The Ministry of Local Government and Planning requested a return of unfit houses not included in clearance areas and for the period 1st April, 1945, to 31st March, 1951. The particulars given were as follows :—

Landlord and Tenant (War Damage) Acts, 1939-41.
No applications were received from owners of houses for
certificates.
Rent and Mortgage Restriction Acts.
During the year nineteen certificates were granted to tenants.
Two clearance certificates were issued to owners.
Housing Act, 1936, Section 62.
Applications for "permitted number" were received and
certificates issued during the year respecting 125 lettings.
Local Land Charges.
Particulars relating to outstanding sanitary notices were
supplied in reference to 1,613 enquiries.
