CHILD WELFARE
The equivalent of whole-time Health Visitors at the end of
the year was eight, equal to one whole-time Health Visitor per
261 notified births, and one whole-time Health Visitor per 258
registered births during 1948.

(b) Child Welfare:
Monday 2 to 4 p.m. St. John's Church Hall, Penrhyn Avenue, E.17.
Tuesday ,, The Memorial Hall, Winchester Road, E.4.
Wednesday „ Low Hall Lane, Markhouse Road, E.17.
Wednesday ,, " Brookscroft," Forest Road, E.17.

A new centre was commenced on 22nd May, 1948, at the
remodelled Civil Defence premises at Silverdale Road, Highams
Park.
In addition, the Walthamstow Child Welfare Society holds
massage and sunlight sessions.
LOCAL AUTHORITY SCHEME
This work was transferred to the County Council on July 5th.
The detailed findings at first visits paid during 1948 are given
in the following tables:—
