Miss Marshall, Educational Psychologist was appointed from
September 1st, 1947 to work mainly in the Leyton Borough and
Forest Divisions. Her work has consisted it the testing of all
children referred to the Child Guidance Clinic from those areas
(and from Walthamstow also, after the resignation of the
Walthamstow Educational Psychologist) and in the systematic
visiting of the Leyton Schools, where individual children were
interviewed and tested.

Miss Marshall reports as follows:—

The total number of individual tests given during the three months was 146, distributed as follows:—

Forest Division—Tests before referral9
Leyton—Tests before referral17
Walthamstow—Tests before referral4
Forest Division — Educational problems — individual tests in school23
Leyton Division—Educational problems—individual tests in school93 146

In addition, the Psychologist administered two group tests in
Secondary Modern Schools, for the purpose of assisting in the
grading of the eleven year old entrants. Altogether, 252 girls were
tested, 157 in one school and 95 in the other. Grading was done
in the light of the Group Test results, checked by reference to the
record card from the primary school.
Of the 116 children tested individually in school at the request
of the Head Teacher or the School Medical Officer, 62 were from
Junior departments and 54 from modern secondary schools. Some
of them were interviewed because of their failure to make progress
in school, some because their behaviour was disturbing the work
of the class or school and was causing anxiety to the parents or
teachers, and some because they were doing very well in school,
and their teachers find it helpful to have an accurate assessment of
their abilities and attainments. The 116 tested may be grouped
as follows:—
Dull 40 (I.Q's 65.85)
Average 63 (I.Q's 85.115)
Bright 13 (I.Q's over 115)
