ments. In 1946, with 54 beds, there were 1,247 confinements in
twelve months, bringing the total figure since the Hospital was
opened to 9,561. Of these 1,247 confinements, 684, that is 54 per
cent., were first births.
The number of infants born in 1946 was 1,264. This includes
17 cases of twins, a percentage of 1.34 relative to the total number
of confinements.
There were 1,446 admissions including 69 unbooked cases and
in addition 17 infant admissions.
Attendances at the antenatal clinics during the year were as
usual good, 1,253 expectant mothers making 11,955 attendances
for examinations and in addition mothers expecting the first baby
making over 750 attendances at the monthly mothercraft
educational classes.
At the post-natal clinic 920 mothers, a percentage of 73.7 of
the related confinements, attended for examination and advice
approximately six weeks from the date of confinement and made
583 subsequent attendances for treatment.

available for reference.
