INFESTATION
The steps taken to combat infestation include cleanliness inspections
by School Nurses at Schools once per term, treatment at
School Clinics (which includes supply of Lethane and of steel
combs) and inspection and treatment for scabies and pediculosis
at the Skin Clinic.
In addition educational work is caried out at all Walthamstow
Schools, Clinics, Day Nurseries and Welfare Centres.
CLINICS
Dr. M. Sheppard, reports as follows:—
"During 1946, the first full post-war year, the work at the
Welfare Centres and Ante- and Post-Natal Clinics showed a
very gratifying increase. The total Welfare Attendances
were 43,525, an increase of 7,579 over the 1945 total. The
Ante-Natal new cases were 1,030, making 2,769 attendances—
over double the 1945 figures. The Post-Natal cases were
almost double, nevertheless the number was only 80, or about
eight per cent. of the ante-natal cases seen, which is far too
low a percentage.
"The ancillary services were much appreciated and are all
doing excellent work.
"Thanks are again due to the voluntary workers who have
given such good service during 1946."
