No legal proceedings were necessary in respect of the eleven
samples, as detailed above.

Dripping (3 samples) Suitable for fish frying Owner prosecuted and
fined.
(e) Chemical and Bacteriological Examination of Foods.
Chemical examination is carried out by the Public Analyst,
Dr. Bernard Dyer, 20, Eastcheap, E.C.3, and bacteriological
examination by the Counties Public Health Laboratories, 66, Victoria
Street, S.W.I.
(f) A total of 813 circular letters were sent to persons in charge
of premises where food was prepared, stored or sold, calling attention
to the precautions to be observed against contamination of food.
The formulation of model bye-laws in regard to the handling,
wrapping and delivery of food and the sale or exposure for sale
in the open-air of food for human consumption is urgent.
Your Committee approved of the need for publicity in regard
to the washing of hands after using the water closet and urinal,
and recommended that as soon as supplies of soap and towels were
available the Council should provide free washing facilities at public
conveniences.
RENT AND MORTGAGE RESTRICTION ACTS
During the year forty-five certificates were granted to tenants
and seven applications were received from owners for certificates
upon completion of works, which, with the exception of one,
were granted.
