"I regret to have to report that the number of gullies
cleansed during 1946 dropped to 10,183, a reduction of 1,170
on the previous year, but can only point out that this was solely
due to the fact that the gully cleansing machine was out of
commission for several months as we could not obtain the necessary
spare parts to effect repairs.
"Once again I have pleasure in reporting an unbroken
record of normal service throughout the year, and I wish to
extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all concerned, as
without their co-operation it would have been impossible to have
maintained the smooth running of the various services during the
past year."
