Puerperal Pyrexia.
28 cases of Puerperal Pyrexia were notified during 1944,
The notifications were received from the following souroes:Maternity
Hospital, 17; Hospitals outside the area 9; and
General Practitioners, 2.
The Puerperal Pyrexia rate for 1944 was 14.23 per 1,000 births as
compared with 23.3 in 1943 and the mortality due to Puerperal Sepsis
was 2.1 per cent of the cases of Puerperal Pyrexia notified.
The Registrar-General has issued the following rates with regard to

MATERNAL MORTALITY.
During 1944, ten deaths associated however slightly with pregnancy
and child-bearing were investigated for the eompletion of enquiry forms
Particulars relating to the ten deaths are given in the accompanying
table, from which it will be seen that three were due to instrumental
aborti on.
