DIPHTHERIA.
A total of 15 cases of Diphtheria was notified during 1944
as compared with 23 in 1943.

The percentage of cases removed to Hospital in 1944 was 92.3
against 91.3 in 1943. No case was refused admission as home
treatment cf Diphtheria can rarely be adequate unless the disease
is extremely mild.
Antitoxin continued to be available for free issue to medical
practitioners at the Public Health Department during office hours,
and at all times at the Fire Station, Forest Road, and at Mr.Gaze's,
10, The Avenue, Highams Fark. During 1944, a total of 20 phials,
containing 8,000 units of Diphtheria antitoxin were issued.
