IMPORTATION OF DOGS ORDERS.
Notification was received in respect of the importation of a
dog into this Borough without the animal first being subjected
to quarantine. The necessary action was taken.
RATS AND MICE DESTRUCTION ACT, 1919 AND INFESTATION ORDER, 1943.
In conformity with this Order a large amount of work was
involved.
Practically the whole Town has received attention in this
direction whilst Factories, sewers and drains at the rear of
houses, together with open water-ways, have received special
consideration.
In addition to the two regular men employed by the Council
two other men were seconded from Civil Defence duties on their
duty days (but carried out Civil Defence duties at night).
They also gave service on a paid basis during their off duty days.
The total number of men employed on Rat Repression was therefore
the equivalent of four whole time men.
Pre-baiting and Poison baiting with, in many instances a
repetition of this baiting, has been carried out with very
satisfactory results.
It is contemplated that the Council will be reimbursed for
rat repression work carried out by the Public Health Department
in certain factory premises.
