TO THE CHAIRMAN A ND NUMBERS OF THE
PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The report for 1942 is again curtailed
and duplicated as a measure of economy.
The estimated population is not published
but shows an increase of some 4,500.
Vital statistics are again favourable when
compared with England and ales.
Good progress was continued in immunising
against diphtheria, the death rate for which was only one
fifth of that for England and ales, and the notification
rate only one twentieth.
I have again to thank you for your
consideration and the staff of the Department for their good
work.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant,
A. T. .W. POWELL.
Medical Officer of Health.
