To the Chairman and Members of the
WALT HAMSTOW EDUCATION committee
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I beg to present herewith a report on the work
of the School Medical Department during 1941.
The war does not appear as yet to have had any
obvious effect on the physical and mental welfare of the
children and the nutritional level of the previous year
has been maintained. The effects of the provision of
school meals and milk have been highly beneficial.
Cleanliness as revealed by routine head inspection
has improved considerably. The increased incidence of
scabies has continued.
Alterations in the strength of the medical,
dental and nursing staff are detailed. In particular the
retirement of Dr. Broderick and the resignation of Miss
McCabe are to be noted after many years service. The work
of the Department has been maintained upon the lines desired
by the Board of Education.
Again I beg to acknowledge the help of the
Committee and the good work of the Staff.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant
A.T.W.POWELL
School Medical Officer
