Of the 3,669 applications, approximately 28 per cent, were from families where the father was unemployed.

HOME HELPS
In addition to the 128 Home Helps approved during 1940, many
aethers attending the Clinics made their own arrangements to
Obtain the help of suitable women whose names were supplied by
the Health Visitors.
Four applications were rejected and eleven were cancelled
by the Rota Committee.
