In addition to the meat involved in the above table, the following
miscellaneous articles were condemned and destroyed as unlit
for food :—
2¾ barrels Apples 22 Fillets Cod.
56 lbs. Tomatoes. 4½ stone Skate.
48 lbs. Pears. 5 stone Pollock.
2 Hams and 2 portions. 2 stone Dogfish.
6 stone Beef and Mutton. 12 stone Dabs.
2 portions Gammon. 4½ stone Cod.
2,379 tins Smoked Brisling.
(c) Adulteration, etc.— Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act,
1928, and Food and Drugs Act, 1938.
The latter Act replaced the former one on 1st October and the
Corporation then became the Food and Drugs Authority. Prior to
this date, and as in the past, samples—chiefly of milk—have been
procured as "such good work has been carried out" to quote from
the Annual Report for 1938.
