Bacteriological examination of sputum and typing is available
through the medium of the excellent laboratory service provided by
the Essex County Council.
The local practice is for the District Sanitary Inspector to visit
on receipt of a notification and to make the necessary inquiries. A
leaflet of advice is left at the house, and opportunity is taken to deal
with any obvious defect in sanitation which may be found.
