Stages.—A portable stage, adjustable in size, has been provided
at one school, and stage beams and/or curtains for dramatic work
at eight schools.
Fitments.—Dark blind to two schools, sun blinds to five schools,
a wind screen at one school, hat and coat rails, towel racks, blanket
racks to others, the renovation of seats and desks, rubber-tyred
coal wagons, and coal bunkers.
Ventilation.—An electric propulsion fan has been fitted at one
school in order to maintain a proper circulation of fresh air during
periods when one of the rooms is darkened for lantern or epidiascope
work.
(Note by S.M.O.)
Schools Library.—The conversion of the ground floor of the
former Marsh Street School into premises for the schools library is
particularly noteworthy, if only because of the provision of "quiet
study" cubicles, invaluable for the studious child unable to work
in the overcrowded home with the "continuous" wireless programme
demanded by the rest of the family.
