In several instances co-operation of certain owners has been
sought and their assurance of rendering fit their properties has
been accepted with the above gratifying result.
Further, one company owning considerable small properties
in this town has been providing drinking water direct from the
main in many of its houses. In the course of time there will be,
it is hoped, a "mains" supply in each house.
The cost of provision of such a direct supply to about BOO
houses in a short period would undoubtedly cause hardship, but
spread over a period of years the cost is more easily borne and such
an arrangement has been entered into and has loyally teen observed
through the good will of the secretary of the company concerned,
thus minimising the risk of contamination of the water supply to
these houses.
Failing compliance with Statutory Notices by the owners, the
Council carried out these requirements to four houses involving an
expenditure of £163 9s. l0d.
