MATERNAL MORTALITY.
There were two deaths of patients who were delivered in the
Hospital and one death of a patient admitted after delivery.
2192. Multigravida 2. Aged 42. Attended the Ante-Natal Clinic.
Had phlebitis of both legs.
Labour :—Uterine inertia. Post-partum hæmorrhage.
Manual removal of placenta.
Puerperium :—Pyrexia, due to thrombo-phlebitis both lower
extremities.
Death from pulmonary embolism occurred on the 14th day.
2328. Primigravida. Aged 23.
Trial labour:—Classical Cæsarean Section.
Puerperium:—Intestinal obstruction due to paralytic ileus.
Death occurred on the fourth day of the puerperium.
2403. Multigravida 5. Aged 38.
Bronchitis in the latter part of the ante-natal period.
Labour :—Normal.
Admitted following delivery at home. Bronchitis. Later
Broncho-pneumonia developed.
Died on the 13th day of the puerperium.
POST-NATAL CLINIC.
On discharge from the Hospital every patient is given an
appointment for the Post-Natal Clinic six weeks from the date of
confinement.
One clinic is held weekly.
