WALTHAMSTOW DISTRICT NURSING ASSOCIATION.
Mrs. Drury, the Honorary Secretary, kindly reports as
follows:—
"The work of the Association continues to make progress in
all its branches.
"The staff has again increased considerably, and still further
accommodation has had to be found. 36, Carisbrooke Road, is now
full, in addition to 8, Castle Avenue, Highams Park, and 17/19,
Carisbrooke Road.
"The Provident Scheme continues to grow. Subscriptions
are taken at all the Churches, Chapels, Social and Political Activities
in the Borough by voluntary collectors.
"The staff at the present time is as follows:—
"One Superintendent;
"One Assistant Superintendent;
"Eight Queen's Nurses;
"Two Queen's Candidates;
"Four Nurse-Midwives;
"Four Non-Queen's Nurses;
"One Pupil Midwife;
"One Post-Graduate Student.
"General cases attended during the year, January
1st to December 31st, 1937 896
"Visits for general cases 19,530
"Midwifery and Maternity cases attended in the
Maternity Home 150
"Midwifery and Maternity cases attended on the
district 169
"Cases outside the Borough in and out of the Home 81
"Old age pensioners and necessitous cases are nursed free by
the Association, so we must still depend on the generosity of subscriptions
and donations to help in this important branch of our
work.
"The Council give a grant of £100 towards the cost of various
cases attended at the request of the Medical Officer of Health. The
Association is grateful to the Council for their help.
"Another series of Post-Graduate Lectures for the Midwives
of the Borough and surrounding districts has been arranged, and
these are being well attended. Here again the Council shows
sympathy by giving a grant of 2s. 6d. for every Midwife in the
Borough who attends a lecture."
