TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE MATERNITY
AND CHILD WELFARE COMMITTEE.
Ladies and Gentlemen.
I beg to present herewith a Report on the Maternity and
Child Welfare services of your Borough during 1933.
During the year under review an additional session was begun
at the Guildsway centre. An additional Health Visitor was
appointed following the cancellation by the Woodford Urban District
Council of the agreement for the Woodford Side area.
I would urge the necessity of proceeding with the erection of
a new building to house the Highams Park Welfare Centre.
During the current year the coping stone has been added
to the structure of your Council's Maternity and Child Welfare
Scheme by the opening of the new Maternity Home, an institution
of which you may justly feel proud.
Grateful acknowledgment must be made to the Committee
representing the Practitioners of the Borough in securing the
general acceptance of the administrative scheme drawn up for the
Maternity Home.
I wish to record my appreciation of your Committee's support
the assistance of the voluntary helpers at the Clinics and the good
work of the Staff.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant,
A. T. W. POWELL,
Medical Officer of Health, etc.
