TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE MATERNITY
AND CHILD WELFARE COMMITTEE.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I beg to present a report on the Maternity and Child Welfare
Service during 1932.
No expansion of service was undertaken but the new Clinics
begun in 1931 operated over the whole of 1932 with the result that
there was a very large increase in the number of Clinic attendances.
In spite of the additional Clinics the number of home visits remained
about the same.
During the year a commencement was made with the combined
nursing service.
I wish to record the continued support of your Committee, the
excellent work of the voluntary helpers at the clinics and the good
work of the Staff.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant,
A. T. W. POWELL,
Medical Officer of Health, etc.
