The percentage of cases removed to Hospital in 1932 was 91.3
against 93.3 in 1931. No cases were refused admission and whenever
possible pressure was exerted to secure the admission of all
cases to Hospital unless cases were of the non-clinical variety. It
is felt that home treatment of diphtheria can rarely be adequate
owing to the difficulty of making patients realise the necessity for
absolute recumbency during the early stages of the disease.
The only notable feature during the year was an outbreak in
February at Chapel End Junior Mixed School where 10 cases occurred
