Ten samples of Ice Cream were taken for analysis, the results being given below:—

Of the ten samples only three were really satisfactory. Any
necessary action was taken in respect of the others but the absence
of any bacteriological standard for Ice Cream is again to be deplored.
Of the three satisfactory samples, two were from large firms
which employed mass production and distribution. The remainder
were from the "back parlour" type of manufacture—a type which
can rarely give satisfactory results.
Biological Examination of Milk Samples.
The County Medical Officer states that samples of milk were
taken in the Borough by the County Food and Drugs Inspector and
submitted to biological examination during 1932 with the following
results:—
28 were found to be free from tubercle bacilli.
2 were found to contain tubercle bacilli.
As a result of the latter finding the County Medical Officer
