" New Department.—A Gynaecological Out-patient Department
was opened early in the year, with Mr. A. Galletly, m.c., F.R.C.S.,
as Honorary Surgeon-in-Charge.
" Extensions.—During 1933 a new ward, to contain 16 beds,
will be built through the generosity of Mr. A. M. Matthews, J.P.,
E.C.C., in memory of his wife.
" In addition, massage accommodation will be constructed at
the Comely Bank Clinic. The funds for this much-needed improvement
have been most kindly provided by Mrs. J. H. Keena in
memory of her husband, Mr. J. H. Keene."
The pressure on the hospital accommodation is well shown by
the extremely high average percentage of beds occupied daily,
viz. : 92.5. This figure represents about the quickest turnover of
beds possible.
The Hospital provides, at an annual retaining fee of 30 guineas,
the use of three beds when required for your Council's Enteric
cases and further admissions up to two per ward at the discretion
of the Hospital Authorities.
Tonsil and Adenoid cases are also done for your Council at
the Hospital under in-patient conditions.

that general clinics were available every morning at 9 a.m. and
every afternoon at 2 p.m.
