''Ante-Natal.—The Ante-Natal Clinic takes place each Monday
at Low Hall Lane. 285 new cases attended, and these made 1,050
attendances, or an average attendance of 21.8 per session as against
15.7 in 1930 and 9.0 in 1929.
''There was no maternal death among mothers attending the
Clinic, and it was only found necessary to refer two cases to
Hospital.
"Fifteen sterilised accouchement outfits were supplied during
1931 at cost price, and one was supplied free of cost."
Part I, Children Act, 1908.—At the end of 1931 there were
143 nurse children on the Register as compared with 139 at the
end of 1930. During the year 59 removed, 4 were adopted, 1 died
and 21 reached the age of 7 years and consequently ceased to come
under the Act.
One hundred and fourteen foster parents were registered at the
beginning of the year and 109 at the end.
Your Committee instructed that the following conditions
should be fulfilled by foster parents:—
1. The foster parent shall not be aged or decrepit.
2. She shall take only one child.
3. A cot must be provided.
4. A fireguard must be provided.
5. There must be a cupboard for storing food.
6. The foster mother must attend the Maternity and Child
Welfare Centre with the infant.
7. The Sanitary Inspector must visit the home.
8. No case of Tuberculosis shall be accommodated.
