National Health Service Act, 1946.
Births.— In accordance with the provisions of the Public Health Act,
1936, all live births and all stillbirths of twenty-eight weeks gestation and
over must be notified within 36 hours to the Medical Officer of Health of
the area in which the birth took place. The number of live births notified
in llford under this Act during 1955 was 1,635 (820 males and 815 females),
of which there were 123 (60 males and 63 females) where the ordinary place
of residence of the parents was outside llford.
In addition 608 notifications of live births (325 males and 283 females)
which took place outside the district, although the ordinary residence of
the parents was in llford, were transferred to this district.
During the year there were no cases in which there was default in complying
with the requirements of the Public Health Act relating to the
Notification of Births.
There were also 42 stillbirths (19 males and 23 females) notified in
llford including 5 (2 males and 3 females) where the home address of the
parents was outside the district, and notifications of 15 stillbirths (8 males
and 7 females) which took place outside the district, although the ordinary
residence of the parents was in llford, were transferred to this district.
This represents a total of 52 where the home address was in llford, whereas
the Registrar-General has allocated 49 stillbirths to llford.
