Cases of Tuberculosis, on notification, are visited by the Tuberculosis Visitors. Cases of longer standing are visited by the Sanitary Inspectors once during the year; 1,247 persons were visited during the year. The following reports were obtained:—

The treatment of Tuberculosis is now under the control of the Regional
Hospital Board. On the 31st December, 1954, there were 1,126 patients on
the register of the Ilford Clinic.

The number of patients from Ilford sent to Institutions under the Regional Hospital Board Tuberculosis Scheme during 1954 was as follows:

Mass Radiography.
During the year, in March and October, the Mass Radiography Unit
of the North East Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board operated from
centres set up within the Borough situated at the Thompson Rooms,
Manford Way Clinic, the Drill Hall, Horns Road, and at two factories.
