* Cases who received more than one type of treatment have only been
included once. The method of selection of the type of treatment to
be counted tends to understate the importance of the treatment at
the top of the table and overstate the importance of those further
down since for example a case who received "injections and general
care" has only been counted in the latter category.

Health Education.—Posters covering various aspects of Health were
displayed at the Public Health Offices and the Mayesbrook, Manford Way
and Newbury Hall Clinics throughout the year, and an exhibition stand
which has become a permanent feature in the entrance hall of the Public
Health Offices was used for the display of illustrative material covering
four different subjects, viz., Accidents in the Home, Foot Health, Smallpox
and The Sanitary Inspector.
As part of the national publicity campaign on the subject of diphtheria
immunisation, advertisements were inserted in the local press in
May, 1953. This was followed by the showing of slides in three local
cinemas, through the helpful co-operation of the managements, over a
period of two weeks in J June, at the same time leaflets being made available
for the public in the cinema vestibules.
