Of the 191 cases treated at the Newbury Hall Clinic, 2 were Open Air
school-children.
At Newbury Hall Clinic, 126 children of school age were discharged
from the Artificial Sunlight Clinic, 60 were cured, 23 were showing considerable
improvement, and 43 were discharged due to absence.
65 children were still receiving treatment at the end of the year.
At Mayesbrook Clinic, 70 children of school age were discharged from
the Artificial Sunlight Clinic, 12 were showing considerable improvement,
39 were cured and 19 were discharged due to absence.
31 children were still receiving treatment at the end of the year.
Aural Clinic.
The Aural Clinic is held at Valentines Mansion, the Surgeon attending
two sessions weekly for 13 weeks and one session weekly for 37 weeks.
63 sessions were held during 1950 and 1,063 attendances were made by
539 children of school age, of, whom 353 were new cases.
The Consulting Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist (Mr. Wm. Ibbotson,
F.R.C.S.), submits the following report: —
" 1 have been greatly encouraged by the results of Conservative
Mastoid Drainage, in two stages, on several of the children. Where
there have been Tonsillar disease and Nasopharyngeal Adenoid excess
these have both been removed during the lattter part of the second
stage, the former portion being devoted to the Closure of the Mastoid
wound. Also, if the nasal Septum has been pathologically deflected,
