Ophthalmic Clinic.—23 expectant and nursing mothers and 179
children under 5 years of age were treated by the Council Oculist during
1946: 54 pairs of spectacles were supplied, 5 to mothers and 49 to children.
Orthopaedic Clinic.
(i) Newbury Ball Clinic.—52 sessions were held during 1946, 356 children
under 5 years of age being examined, making 820 attendances.
(ii) Mayesbrook Clinic.—-25 sessions were held during 1946, 183 ohildren
under 5 years of age being examined, making 417 attendances.

The 539 children were found to be suffering from the following defeots:—
