The incidence of influenza and its fatality rate is shown by the following table, which shows the number of notifications of pneumonia with the percentage death rates according to where the cases were nursed, covering a period of 17 weeks from December, 1945, to March, 1946:—

Of the 159 persona notified as suffering from Pneumonia, 101 were
admitted to hospitals, or 63.6 per cent. (43.4 per cent. of them being
admitted to the Ilford Isolation Hospital). Of this number 14 persons died
or 13.9 per cent. The remaining 58 persons were nursed at home and of
this number 9 died or 15.5 per cent.
In addition to the cases notified as Pneumonia 10 deaths certified as
having died from Influenza occurred in patients nursed at home.
3. Tuberculosis. During the year 1945 there were 203 new notifications
of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and 36 of other forms of Tuberculosis.
33 cases of Pulmonary and 2 cases of Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis were
transferred to Ilford.
