Note.—(i) 586 children were prescribed and provided with glasses, of
which 11 were supplied free.
(ii) 6 children of school age were admitted to the Country
branch of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at
Stanmore and 5 discharged. 26 children were supplied
with appliances.
(iii) 49 cases referred for X-ray and Electro-Cardiogram and
36 for Blood Sedimentation Rate.
School Dentists.—Of 11,048 inspections by the DentiBt (including
special cases), 5,914 (or 53 per cent.), were found to require treatment,
compared with 7,763 (or 61 per cent.) in 1943, 9,223 (or 61 per cent.) in 1942,
8,289 (or 65 per cent.) in 1941, 5,583 (or 56 per cent.) in 1940, 10,491 (or
58 per cent.) in 1939.
In addition to the ordinary dental work of fillings and extractions,
51 regulation plates, and 2 dentures were supplied. 633 visits were made
by children to the Dental Clinic for regulation purposes.
