3. Tuberculosis. During the year 1942 there were 225 new notifications
of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and 37 of other forms of Tuberculosis.
29 cases of Pulmonary and 6 cases of Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis were
transferred to Ilford.

Of the above new cases, the following were notified from Institutions in the district:—

Of the 93 deaths which occurred of Ilford residents, notification had
previously been made of 76 of the cases; of the other 17, 8 were notified
after death; 8 were not notified (8.6 per cent. of the deaths, or a ratio of
1 in 11); one death included by the Registrar-General it has not been
possible to trace. Of the 8 cases not notified (previously referred to) in
7 instances the presence of tuberculosis was discovered following P.M.,
and in the remaining instance notification was overlooked.
