In 1942, under the arrangements mentioned in the 1935 Report, 31
private doctors were supplied with prophylactic for the immunisation of
256 children (220 under 5 years and 36 over 5 years of age). The following
is a brief summary:—

(d) Ophthalmia Neonatorum.—9 cases were notified during 1942.

Of the 9 cases notified, 7 were treated at home by private medical practitioners, 2 were treated as out-patients at the Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital.

(e) Enteric Fever.—3 cases of enteric fever were notified. One case was
admitted to the Essex County Council Hospital, Wanstead, being confirmed
bacteriologically; 1 was admitted to the Ilford Isolation Hospital but
confirmation of the disease could not be obtained by bacteriological examination;
the other case was treated at home, this also was not confirmed by
bacteriological examination.
(f) Scabies Order, 1941 (dated 28th October, 1941).—591 cases of Scabies
(195 adults and 396 children) were reported. 10 Ilford residents were
admitted to the Isolation Hospital during the year.
