NURSING.
At the present time the nursing staff at the Hospital
consists of the Matron, Assistant Matron, 3 Sisters, 4 Staff
Nurses and 10 Probationers. The probationers now join for
two years, and are given a series of lectures by the Matron
and the Medical Superintendent. This course of lectures is
followed by the examination for the certificate of the Fever
Nurses' Association. During the year two nurses passed
this examination. The work carried out by the nursing staff
during the year has been of a high standard. Much credit
must also be given to the Matron for her able management
and direction of the staff. The provision of additional sleeping
accommodation for the nursing staff will shortly become
an urgent necessity with the opening of the Tuberculosis
pavilion.
DISINFECTION.
The disinfection of bedding, clothing, etc., is carried
out at the Hospital. Two vans are kept. One of the vans
is used for infected and the other for disinfected materials.
The room or rooms occupied by the patient with an infectious
disease are sprayed out with a "Cylli" solution after recovery
of the patient. Bedding and clothing are removed
to the Disinfector. Blankets are soaked in a disinfectant at
the home.
