is especially common in houses from which cases of
Tuberculosis are notified.
No systematic inquiries were made during the year as
to the source of milk supply. In an urban district such as
Ilford the milk supply is very mixed, and it would not seem
to be a very hopeful line of investigation to attempt to trace
the connection between bovine Tuberculosis and notified cases
of Tuberculosis.
Cases have not been usually visited subsequently during
the year, except for some special reason, such as disinfection
after removal.
Cases of suspected Tuberculosis associated with notified
cases of the disease have been in some cases referred to the
private medical attendant for investigation. No arrangement
has been made during the year to utilize the services of
the Tuberculosis Officer or Nurses for any of the purposes
arising out of notification.
This matter is at present receiving careful consideration
by the Council.
MEASURES OF CLEANSING AND DISINFECTION.
Every facility and inducement is given to obtain disinfection
of rooms and bedding where necessary; for instance,
after death or removal of the patient. Formalin is used to
spray the walls of infected rooms.
Information is given as to the utilization of beds in the
Isolation Hospital for the treatment of cases of Tuberculosis
in another part of this report.
Following on the notification of Pulmonary Tuberculosis
117 first visits and 50 subsequent visits were paid to the
patients. Following on the notification of other forms of the
disease, 64 first visits were paid and 11 subsequent visits.
