Premature Birth accounted for 19 deaths out of a total of
102; Atrophy, Debility, and Marasmus for 17 deaths. These
two causes are the most serious blots on the infant mortality
record.
11 deaths from Diarrhœa are recorded. This is a
disease in which hygienic surroundings and proper treatment
go a long way to aid recovery. Many slight cases come to
the knowledge of the Health Visitor, and the prompt action
usually taken by Miss Radford has in many cases cut short
the disease and averted a possible death.
