Suggested Widening of High Holborn between
Southampton Row and Southampton Street.
It is much to be regretted that advantage was not taken
by the London County Council of the demolition of
property on the north side of High Holborn, between
Southampton Row and Southampton Street, with a view to
the same being widened. It is difficult to understand what
influences were brought to bear upon the Improvements
Committee of the London County Council, who after having
in the first instance recommended that the same should be
carried out, at a subsequent meeting withdrew their
recommendation.
