Cleansing of Persons Act, 1897.
(Chapter 31.)
This Act permits Local Authorities to provide Cleansing
and Disinfection of Persons infected with Vermin.
During August, a man residing in a Common LodgingHouse
came to the Stone Yard, and requested to have the
free use of the disinfecting apparatus for cleansing his
person and his clothing from vermin. He stripped in one
of the sheds in the yard, and put on a clean shirt and
trousers, which he brought with him. His dirty clothes
were then disinfected in the Washington Lyons Steam
Apparatus, and returned to him, excepting trousers and
shirt, which at his request were destroyed.
