Under the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890, eleven representations were made by the Medical Officer of Health, and the necessary steps taken with a view to closing the premises. The following are the particulars:—

The Regulations made by the Board as to Houses let in
Lodgings or occupied by members of more than one family
still continue to be enforced within the District.
The Local Government Board on the 18th May forwarded
a copy of Model Bye-laws, which they suggested the Board
should make in lieu of the existing Regulations. The
matter having been referred to the Sanitary Committee for
consideration and report, the following recommendation
was unanimously adopted, and the Local Government
Board was so informed:—
That having regard to the fact that the regulations as to
houses let in lodgings, or occupied by members of more than
one family, which were made on the 22nd day of February,
1887, and approved by the Local Government Board on the
31st day of March, 1887, have been in force for over seven
years, and seeing that 451 houses in the District are at
