Tavistock Mews, Bedford Square.
This Mews, which runs at the rear of the bouses on the West side

therewith, extending from Bedford Street to Tavistock Street.
When the buildings on the West side are erected, it will form a great
improvement in the locality.
Church Lane.

and part of the sites thereof laid into the street for the purpose of
widening the same.

By their Parliamentary notices and plans, this Company, in November
last, announced its intention to bring in a Bill to extend its tramways
in the Metropolis, and among several routes it proposed to lay
down rails along the new street now in course of formation by the Metropolitan
Board of Works, from Old Street to Vernon Place, and thence
across Bloomsbury Square and Hart Street, to Bury Place. This Board
refused to consent to the application, on the grounds that it would
injuriously affect the property in the streets along which the tramways
would pass, and tend to drive away the present residents, thus deteriorating
the value of the property and spoiling the neighbourhood;
moreover, the Act 46 Geo. 3, cap. 134, for ornamenting and
